How to write a hand

• A:22 a pair of 2s in suit A
• B:0000 a kong of zeros in suit B
• C:nnn a pung of any one rank n in suit C
• A:n+1·n+1·n+1 a pung of the rank one above n
• NNN a pung of North
• red·red·red·red a kong of red dragons
• flower a single flower

• Each word is one group of tiles. A group's size is its kind: single 1, pair 2, pung 3, kong 4, quint 5, sextet 6. A hand is 14 tiles.
• A, B, C stand for three different suits, in any assignment; a group with no letter is an honour.
• A rank is a digit or a variable: n may be any 1 to 9 that keeps the hand on the tiles, and n+1, n+2 are the ranks above it. Write the values a variable may take after the pattern.
• 0 is the white dragon standing in as zero, or a flower where the hand says so.
• Honours are written by name: N, E, W, S are the winds, red, green, white the dragons, flower any flower.
• A joker may stand in any group of 3 or more, never in a single or a pair. A concealed hand takes no calls; mark it C, an open hand O.
• Values on this card: 25, 30, 35, 40, 50.
